To Do List

Fend off that to-do list overwhelm!

It's easy to fall into the pit of to-do list overwhelm when it gets busy at work. You realise you have too much to do before a deadline, or you just cant keep track of what needs doing and when.

We've put together a few tips to help fend off those to-do list blues and help you to conquer your daily tasks.

1. Prioritise your list

Decide what needs doing first, if it's important and urgent, do it first.

Once you have your 'urgent' tasks, you know what to conquer first!

Make sure to only have 3 or 4 things in the "To-do right now" section to avoid getting back into that overwhelm we are fending off.

2. Eat your frog!

"If your job is to eat a frog, It's best to do it first thing in the morning.

And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first".

What does that mean?

Look at your to-do list, and decide which task is most import.

The most important task, is your frog.

Eating your frog will give you a sense of achievement and helps to put you on a roll, using your 'urgent' list will help you decide which task, or tasks, are your frogs.

3. Email overwhelm

Emails are a to-do list for you from everyone else.

Turn emails off when doing focused work, especially when you find yourself on a roll and being super productive. You can come back to your emails later.

Structure your day to suit you so you can be productive, and promote getting into that roll.

Tackle tasks in the order you want and deal with what everyone else wants once you are set up for the day. This way you'll be able to eat your frog and then deal with anything else that may need doing.
